Palmdale and Lancaster Mayors Mingle at “Festa Italiana”
Landfill goes Italian at Mixer for Local Business Leaders
Palmdale, CA, September 29, 2006 – Palmdale’s Mayor Jim Ledford, Lancaster’s Mayor Henry Hearns and Palmdale City Councilmember Tom Lackey and wife Theresa were among guests at last night’s “Festa Italiana” – the Antelope Valley’s Chamber of Commerce mixer held at Waste Management. Nearly 200 members of the Antelope Valley community mixed and mingled while listening to old Sinatra and Dean Martin hits played by the Tony Capko Quartet.
Host chambers attended including the Palmdale Chamber of Commerce, the Antelope Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Quartz Hill Chamber of Commerce and the Antelope Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Also joining in the fun were guests of chamber members and Waste Management employees.
Guests socialized and networked in the landfill’s welding shop-turned-party venue from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. enjoying the music as well as Italian food provided by L.A. Trends. About 20 interested guests were also able to take landfill tours led by District Landfill Manager Jim Merrit and Director of Special Projects, Mike Williams. Newcomers to the landfill were impressed with all of the environmental controls in place!
“This annual chamber mixer is one of the only opportunities for members from all areas of the Antelope Valley to mix and mingle,” said Karen Erstad, Community Relations Manager for Waste Management of Antelope Valley. “Waste Management is proud to sponsor the event that brings these groups together. We look forward to planning the next event in 2007!”
The annual Chamber of Commerce mixer was held at Waste Management of Antelope Valley, located at 1200 W. City Ranch Road in Palmdale.
